RS SID Team 2009 80mm->100mm

Howdy all,
I've been riding a 80mm SID the last couple of days and a little concerned it has affected my bike's geometry?
My TREK 9.8 comes from the factory with 100mm fork and I've been riding it with a 100mm for a couple of years - no complaints.
A) does it really make a big difference in the way the bike handles?
B) I've read that I can convert the SID to 100mm (remove spacers)...anybody try this?
